Monday 26th August – Windsurf ***** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Foil – 17.77 knot max, 16.92 knot ave, 11.05 knot hour, 15.50 knot mile, 52.06 km., 12.93 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

The forecast was good again today with 15 knots from the SW or perhaps WSW so when I checked Landguard first thing there was already 15 knots so I had a quick breakfast and headed down to Squiz Lane at the Manor early hoping I could park as it was a sunny Bank Holiday Monday! I arrived around 8.30 and after putiing my trailer by the rubbish bins I could park close by, I was lucky as campervans have now discovered this spot:( The foil board was quickly set-up once again with my borrowed Severne foil, a big thankyou to Ian for the loan, hopefully I can head over to Colchester on Wednesday to pick up my replacemnent Starboard freeride foil! With the wind a fraction off it was a job to judge the strength but there looked enough for 6.5 and I certainly didn’t want to rig anything any bigger! I launched into sunshine at nine and pumped up onto the foil a couple of hundred metres offshore and enjoyed a lovely mellow 2.50 hours foiling. I had wind with tide for the first half of the session and being slightly under I decided to stay in front of the Manor doing long runs to Wadegate Post and beyond! The sea was particularly smooth only chopping up a little when the tide turned, I had to pump up after most gybes after waiting for a gust was the only negative thing about this mornings session! So nothing fast just great fun skimming across the top of the waves and I was still home just after midday:)

Walk **** Waldringfield.

So after this mornings 5 star windsurf foil I sent a few pics to the TV weather and while I had a quick shower Mag made our picnic lunch, yummy eggs sandwiches again and we headed out in the van around 1.30. We wanted to check out timber for a raised bed at Wicks in Martlesham after which we headed to Martlesham Church but the lane was closed so we continued to Waldringfield Church and walked down to have it near the Sailing Club boatyard on the small sandy beach watching the action on the river. It was very busy as it was the prize giving from the weekends sailing regatta plus loads of paddle boarders, people swimming and crabbing up near to the very popular Maybush pub which was absolutely heaving! Still we enjoyed the peace and quiet for lunch before walking through the busy part to check out the new house which is being build near the boatyard! Then up the lane and back across the fields to Katys plants at Newbourne and Mag was pleased to get several plants and three bags of horse manure, she is easily pleased:)
